The One Thing I Tell Every Woman New to Fitness

Start slow. Start small. Start imperfect. But start.

You don’t need to know everything. You don’t need to lift the heaviest or run the fastest. You just need to START MOVING. Move your body. Feel your body. Begin to understand what activities light you up and which ones challenge you. Are there activities you would like to try but don’t know where to begin? Learn more about them and determine a way to take a class or a lesson or simply experiment. Are there fitness activities such as golf or tennis or running you used to participate in? Revisit them.

Just start somewhere.

My advice?

  • Pick three days you can commit some time to each week — and make it happen

  • Focus on resistance training such as free weights or machines — to get your metabolism working for you

  • Fuel your body with nutritious food — don’t restrict it

  • Celebrate every win — no matter how small

You are capable. You are worthy. You are allowed to move at your own pace.
