Stay Active Through the Holidays (Without Overthinking It)

The holidays are about connection, not perfection. Still, maintaining movement through this season helps you feel stronger, sleep better, and keep your energy up — no extremes needed.

Here’s how I encourage my friends, family and MYSELF to stay consistent this time of year:

  • Lock in on Fall — This is the season of falling leaves, pumpkin patches and fall festivals. Seize the opportunity to break free from your routine while knocking out some of your 10,000 steps and connecting with friends, neighbors and yourself.

  • Add walks to your routine – Fall is a phenomenal time to walk. Add post-meal walks, parking further from stores or early morning strolls with coffee add up fast.

  • Start your day with 10–15 minutes of movement – Whether it's yoga, bodyweight circuits or light cardio - it sets the tone.

  • Make it social – Invite a friend for a gym date or join a holiday-themed fitness challenge.

  • Stretch it out – Stretching reduces tension and helps with digestion after big meals. It’s a small win that makes a big difference.

  • Remember your “why” – Staying active is not about burning off food. It’s about feeling good in your body and showing up for yourself.

  • Get playful – Ice skating? Hiking? Playing tag with the kids? It’s all movement.

Let movement support your joy this season, not stress you out. You don’t need a perfect plan — you just need to keep showing up, in whatever way works for you.
